چکیده

The increasing use of natural biodegradable polymers to preserve foods is a consequence the concern society with sustainability. Starch stands out amongst due its great availability on worldwide scale, high extraction yield and nutritional value, low cost, biodegradability biocompatibility. Apart from traditional sources, various others exist potential. objective this study was identify films different non-traditional starch sources properties revealing their potential be applied as coating for fruits vegetables. were prepared three concentrations (2, 3 3.5%) each following sources: cassava, yam, jackfruit seed mango kernel. starches studied are promising ingredients formulation films, presenting good physical, optical (such transparency) mechanical characteristics, principally tensile strength whose maximum value 36.63 MPa. Increases in concentration directly influenced thickness, water vapor permeability, puncture force. greatest potentials according characteristics 3% 3.5% 2% mango.

Influence of different starch sources and plasticizers on properties of biodegradable films

The concern with the accumulation of synthetic plastics in the environment is one of the reasons for the increasing interest in the development of biodegradable films. Among raw materials from renewable sources, starch is one of the most promising. In order to evaluate biodegradable films obtained from native starches (rice, potato and cassava), these were prepared by casting method with the ad...

Rice Starch-Based Biodegradable Films: Properties Enhancement

The claims of environmental protection and the lack of petroleum resources provide a new opportunity for developing plastic materials derived from biopolymer resources. Starch is one of the most studied and promising raw materials for the production of biodegradable plastics, because starch is quite cheap, abundant, biodegradable and edible. Starch consists of two major types of molecules, prim...

Properties of Biodegradable Multilayer Films Based on Plasticized Wheat Starch

Over the last decades, there has been growing needs to find alternatives to petroleum-based products because of environmental concerns. Starch is an inherently biodegradable, renewable and low-cost material, and has high potential in food or non-food applications [1]. In that respect, the applications of starch have given rise to a great number of studies [2–5]. Native starch, when plasticized ...
